Vinyl records !!!
I am a "visual" person so it is always difficult for me to write and I realize today, with the flood of images that pass before our eyes every day, that words should explain these images, make sense ... if you take the time to read, although of course!
I wanted to post on two vinyl projects. The first is the new EP by Piers Faccini performs for Record store day. It is exciting to talk to Piers its projects and discuss the creative process. I was lucky to have that 12" in the hands and can listen to these 4 new titles.
Here is how Piers describes the project: "This is the third year we've participated and I love doing it as something Each Time Allows me to experiment and try out different ideas and styles from the album That I make. This year's release is inspired by the different traditions of work songs worldwide, the oven songs recreate the call of voices rising in unison to the beat of a hammer gold to the syncopated grinding of grain on the threshing floor. In WORK SONGS rhythm is the hand clap That keeps time to the crash of an axis or the thud of a mortar on a stone pestle. Inspired as much by Southern Voice Mediterranean traditions as Those of African American origins, oven thesis showcase new compositions Faccini's Customary and original music without frontiers.Lastly the artwork for the 12 inch Was Made using original lino cuts That I made. ".

The second project is the new album Lunatic age, a rock band from the town where I come from. We met with the group when I started in graphic design, the cover of their second album was one of my first "real" project. 15 years later, here we are again on a joint project, and I do not think at that time we would have created could imagine their new vinyl together! Difficult today to say what the future of the music industry will be. Who predicted that U2 albums issue on LP in the 2000's would sell for between 100 and 150 € on ebay while so much people complains when they offer their latest album for free on itunes !!! I see it with my daughter, who in her 11 years finds happiness discovering music. But the experience of looking for a title in my itunes library have nothing with discovering a song in a movie or a song associated with the cover of a 12". I myself "fall" in collecting vinyl since last year... If I only I could have buy vinyl instead of the thousans CDs I have ! That's why I wanted to present these two innovative projects that challenges the physical medium in the heart of the experience of music.
